Hoover WindTunnel 3 Bagless Upright Vacuum Review 2018
The Hoover Company has a long history and has been around since the early 1900’s. The vacuum came about when an asthmatic inventor/night janitor Murray Spangler decided to invent a suction sweeper to help him breathe while is carried out his janitorial work.
Soon after W.H. Hoover bought the patent to the suction sweeper and the first Hoover vacuum was born and as the saying goes to rest is history. Let’s take a closer look at the Hoover WindTunnel 3 performance bagless upright vacuum.
Hoover WindTunnel 3 Design and Features
The Hoover WindTunnel 3 offers enough power and features to keep any homeowner happy. The Hoover vacuum feels well made and sturdy, which is something you come to expect from the Hoover Company. They haven’t skimped when it comes to power cord length either, and this model (UH72600) features a generous 40-foot cord that will provide plenty of slack so you can easily vacuum a large room or even a couple of bedrooms without having to change plug sockets.
The same can be said about the generous 12-foot extension hose which is nice and long when compared to other vacuums in this price bracket. Apart from the extension hose this Hoover vacuum also comes with a nice selection of attachments such as pet hair vacuum attachments, multi-floor brush roll on/off option, crevice tools, and a turbo cleaning tool.
If you have pets you know how hard it can be to remove cat and dog hair from your furniture and carpets, with the supplied pet upholstery tool that features rubberized blades on a roller you can easily remove pet hair.
To get into tight spaces the Hoover vacuum comes with a well-designed crevice tool that features a lip and curved edge. This unique design will get deep into cracks and crevices and can also be used when cleaning seats or carpets in your car and other hard-to-reach trouble spots.
The Hoover vacuum features a foolproof dial located on the side on the vacuum that lets you select whether you will be vacuuming floors or using the provided hose to clean furniture or stairs.
Like many of the best vacuum cleaners the Hoover uses a built-in dustbin to collect debris, what makes this model stand out from the competition is the size of the dustbin. It is much larger than others however it is still easy to hold and manage when emptying. The filter can be reused and a quick was will make it as good as new.
I would say that one of the most useful features of this vacuum is the height adjustment dial. The dial lets you choose from a range of flooring options allowing you to easily clean hardwood floors, carpets, and even high-pile rugs.
The overall controls on the Hoover WindTunnel 3 are super easy to use and totally foolproof and really take the hassle out of vacuuming. Everything is placed in just the right position, the button for example, that turns the brush roll on and off is in easy reach of your foot, and you can easily recline the vacuum in a matter of seconds and the power button is located on the vacuum handle which is precisely where you'd want it to be.
Hoover has put a lot of thought into every last detail on this vacuum model (UH72600) and it is an exceptionally easy vacuum to pick up and use straight from the get-go.
The pet hair removal tools and the ability to easily move from carpet to hard floors with a push of a button make this a great vacuum for general family home cleaning. There are a couple of concerns with this Hoover vacuum model (UH72600) when it comes to usability. The dustbin and brush roll cleaning can be a challenge, accessing the filter at the top can be a bit tricky but becomes easier once you have removed it a few times.
For a home vacuum cleaner that comes at a modest price, the Hoover is a great buy. It has enough power to pick up the toughest of ground in debris and grime and the ability to also double up as a pet hair vacuum make it perfect if you have pets that shed their hair.
We did find that it struggled slightly on hardwood flooring, but to be honest many of the other vacuums we have tested also find hardwood flooring and laminate flooring a challenge.
Maintenance and support
This Hoover vacuum (UH72600) comes with a five-year limited warranty, when compared to the competition in this price bracket this seems to be the norm. However, unlike the competitors, the Hoover vacuum offer various parts such as filters, new dustbins, brush roll replacements and even individual screws.
To take the guesswork out of diagnosing your vacuum this model (UH72600) features a red indicator if something is wrong with the vacuum. The supplied user manual does cover some of the problems you may encounter so you can self-diagnose and solve any issue you may have without having to send the vacuum to the repair shop.
In this Hoover WindTunnel 3 vacuum review, we have covered most of the features the (UH72600) has to offer. If you have a lot of hardwood flooring in and around your home this vacuum is probably not going to be the best choice. However, if you have mainly floor-to-floor carpet in your home as well as pets and want the best vacuum for under $200 the Hoover WindTunnel 3 vacuum (UH72600) is a great choice.
It’s a top rated vacuum as far as we are concerned when it comes to removing pet hair and carpet cleaning and with its built-in HEPA filter, it will help keep any allergies at bay.
The Good - The Hoover WindTunnel 3 High-Performance Bagless Upright was a great vacuum when it came to fine particles in the carpet and the HEPA filter is a great option to have it you suffer from asthma or allergies.
The Bad - When it came to hardwood flooring and laminate flooring it struggled. The weight of the model is also quite heavy when compared to others in the Hoover range.
The Bottom Line - Summing it up, if you have mainly carpets at home and are looking for the best vacuum under $200 this is a great buy for the home especially if you have pets and small children.
